Process instrumentation
The measuring end of the loop, specified against range, wetted material, process connection and area classification — the four details that decide whether an instrument survives the duty.
- Quoted from
- A tag number, an instrument index or a datasheet.
- Signal types
- 4–20 mA, HART, Modbus, pulse and volt-free contact.
- Certification
- Standard, intrinsically safe and flameproof versions where the manufacturer certifies them.
- Replacements
- Identified from the tag number and a photograph of the nameplate.
What usually goes wrong
Instruments rarely fail on principle. They fail on a range that is wrong at the low end, a wetted material that will not last in the fluid, a process connection that does not match the manifold, or a certificate that will not pass the site's hazardous area review. All four are cheap to check before the order and expensive to discover after it.
How we handle it
We quote against your instrument index or datasheet and confirm those four details in writing before ordering. For a like-for-like replacement the existing tag and a nameplate photograph are usually enough for us to identify the unit and offer either the same model or the current equivalent, with the differences stated.

| Temperature | Transmitters and gauges | Head- and rail-mounted transmitters, bimetal dial thermometers, thermostats |
| Level | Continuous | Radar, guided-wave radar, ultrasonic, hydrostatic and differential pressure |
| Level | Point | Vibrating fork, capacitance, float and conductive switches |
| Flow | Meters | Electromagnetic, vortex, ultrasonic, variable area and turbine |
